Pros:

Numerous assignments

|
Cons:

Pretty much the whole experience was negative. Had 2-3 recruiters with problems from each.
|
|
Did not have a single assignment in 1 1/2 years without major, unresolved problems from the company. The company put me housing that was fair to downright disgusting and told me, when I complained, that I wouldn't make a good traveler.

unresolved issues and charges for private housing, low pay scale, didn't like the new bennies package, don't back up traveler
|

I worked from them before the merge and had a good, knowelgedable recuriter and i was fairly satisfied with them but, i was very green in the traveling business. After the merge i didn't like the new bennies. I don't like the fact i had to pay for private housing, although the housing was good. I don't like their strict polices about taking 30 days off after a year. I believe the law is 2 years. that was biggy for me. and they taxed my housing during my last cotract and should've have and i never did recover those expenses. My new recruiters didn't have a clue what was going on.One made up stuff and the other referred me to everyone else. They don't back up their travelers and are just too big and not personable nor care about their travelers.
They didn't back up a fellow RT i worked with in Hawaii after she got sick with pnuemonia from working so much as the hopsital wasn't giving her almost no time off. Then she had to pay housing fees and the cost of changing her plane ticket and then to boot said they couldn't find her insurance paperwork after she spent 6 days in that crappy hospital we worked in.
they not high on my priority list for sure! too big! for short assignments they may be good but, not for long term. They don't always deliver what they say they will and even if you extend a contract they don't always follow the same terms as the previous one and they took money for taxes from my paycheck that shouldn't have started until the next contract but, took it out before i finished the current one. Stay away from them!

Pros:
|
many assignments to choose from, fair pay as compared to most companies
|
|
Cons:
|
shared housing, paying for your own physicals/lab work
|
|
I have enjoyed the choices I have had for work, and the web site is easy to use and helps give you an idea of what is available without talking to anyone. I have had few problems, and the ones I had were taken care of promptly. I don't like the shared housing, so I take the stipend and make my own arrangements. The bonus pathway is interesting for establishing longevity. I have had a generally positive experience with Cross Country for all 3 of my contracts.

The pay is laughable, if you can stop crying long enough. They even want you to pay a few hundred bucks toward private housing. Imagine that!I

Shop around, Shop around, Shop around! Travel nursing is getting to be less and less advantageous.
It good if you want to go places and see the world. But if you have bills to booth....well..you see where I'm going....
The salaries have decreased over the years for traveling RN's. Check it out for yourself.

CROSS COUNTRY IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. THEY ARE A DISGRACE TO TRAVEL COMPANIES EVERYWHERE. HOPEFULLY SOONER THAN LATER SMALLER PERSONABLE COMPANIES WILL PUT AND END TO THEIR 700 MILLION DOLLAR PLUS ANNUAL REVENUE AT NURSES EXPENSE.

My first travel assignment ever, I quit my job, not knowing that my license would take three months to get, my contract was cancelled by the hospital due to the fact that I did not have my license in hand yet, needless to say I was stuck in NJ, freezing, unable to work. Thanks for the heads up!!!! Once I received my license, I worked for a local agency, Phoenix Healthcare, located in Englewood Cliffs, look them up, awesome staff, great pay, fabulous benefits, free scrubs, thank god for them. Now I am at an assignment in FL, OH MY GOD, HELL NIGHTMARE, WORST HOSPITAL EVER, VERY DANGEROUS NURSE TO PATIENT RATIOS, UGH, BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!!!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!! I GAVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE, AND THEY FAILED!!!! I AM ALSO WITH AUREUS MEDICAL, I HAVE READ REVIEWS ON THIS SITE, I HAVE HAD A WONDEFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THEM, ASK FOR ERIC MOCKLESTROM, MARY WASHINGTON HOSPITAL IN FREDERICKSBURG, VA IS THE BEST EVER!!!!! TOP NOTCH, CLEAN AS A HOTEL, THE PEOPLE ARE WONDERFUL AND FRIENDLY, LOTS OF TEAMWORK, FABULOUS COMPUTER SYSTEM, NO STONES LEFT UNTURNED HERE!!!!!

I have had good experience thus far with this company. I have done 2 assigments with them and nothing really exciting. I did have one job where it was getting a little unsafe and told them I wanted to think before extending but she said ok and I caught her and said don;t you want to know what is going on and she caught on adn said yes, she did follow up adn first question was about the issues. All and all ask questions get it in writing and go for it

Did two assignments with them, had alot problems with them from housing, to pay was wrong, they charge for private housing, poor pay, recruiter was good at first than shse left and the new one was horrible quit right away with them. I had been put in housing that was a ways from work they were supposed to move me closer and the place they were trying to move me to, was farther away than where I lived at the time, explained it to them and they said I could stay where i was or move to the new location they had found for me, I had found out the place they had found for me was where another nurse with them had complained she was too far away from the work place and they moved her closer and it left them with an apt opening that they still, had to pay for for the 3 months so they were trying to force me into it. I had found out through the nurse herself she worked where i was at, and we started talking.I than confronted the housing coordinator and she verified the fact, I stayed where i was and than left as fast as I could when my contract was up.

Pay is terrible, recruiter was alright, but job shared and then they got an associate that had no idea about anything

I traveled with Travcorps before the merge and had no complaints. Have had a different company since then that I love. They didn't have a contract in Denver where I needed to go for family reasons. So, went with Crosscoundtry because of previous experience. Pay is terrible. They are charging me $700.00 to have a second bedroom!! Pay is only $25/hr. Don't like biweekly pay. Everytime I call I have to leave a message and the associate, who is clueless calls me back. She called me every other day to tell me I needed things that were already done and faxed to them the week before. I can't wait for this assignment to be up so I can switch. My other company is working on getting a contract in this area. My housing is nice, but when I asked the complex the difference in rent between a 1 and 2 bedroom they said $125!! When I called the agency and told them they said the rate was for rent, electric and water. I can't imagine it's $700 a month. I didn't have a lot of time, I needed to be here right away. But, I will be changing. I'm only on my second week now. Hope I can make it. I do like the hospital, everyone there is very friendly and helpful.
