Positive aspects of the product (pros): honest hardworking individuals working for US, not just for themselves, quick on returning phone calls, follow up on all questions or problems encountered. I just can't say anything bad EXCEPT
Negative aspects of the product (cons): smaller company and don't have the NUMBER of assignments or selection as most bigger companies have

Positive aspects of the product (pros): completely furnished housing, nice recruiters
Negative aspects of the product (cons): none...limited assignments...reasonable pay..not as high as others

Did one assignment, just couldn't get me where I wanted to be for the price I would accept. Other than that, they were great.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): none
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Inexperienced, recruiters, with little or no understanding, or caring about the travel nurse! I almost went with them, but I'm VERY glad I didn't! They can be a sweet as pie, as long as they think they're getting over on you. Tried to pull one over on

Don't bother with this company, especially with their limited assignments, and their LONG wait period for benefits! They have a non-compete clause that they refuse to take out, and their recruiters can be rude, nasty, and just plain inexperienced, or even caring!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): caring recruiters, works with not only YOUR needs, but your FAMILY needs.
Negative aspects of the product (cons): doesn't have jobs in all states in my areas (but getting more and more daily)! Insurance starts after 90 days.

I have been with this company for almost a year now, and have had three wonderful recuiters (Lynn, Steve, and Kari). They have bent over backyards at my current assignment to make sure that I am happy! I would definately recommend them to any travel nurse or therapist!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): NONE
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Contract was company centered only, housing was in unsafe area and no heat for a week, recruiter lied ,recruiters supervisor admitted she ignored contacts , boss of supervisor admitted the company had to lie to get contracts filled. Kept last paycheck .

Traveled 5000 miles to have the "assignment from hell." Recruiters lied about assignment. Did not start on promised start date. Er position ended up changing to float med surg positon for travel partner. Housing was in very bad neighborhood..unsafe, loud, car was keyed, person on next street stabbed, no heat for one week. Assignments were unfair, unethical, HIPPA violations, very sexest, and very unprofessional. Company ignored all contacts. Left contract early to protect lisence and they kept last pay checks.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): none
Negative aspects of the product (cons): lied about the hospital, didn't return emails or phone calls when hed problems, contract written to cover them not the traveler, don't back up or care about the traveler and their needs.

This was the WORST assignment i've been on in my 5 years of traveling! The recruiter lied about the hopsital, put us in a house that was in a bad neighborhood, the heat kept going off due to a leaky pipe, the train ran behind it, the cars were noisy and the lady upstairs was too. They did finally move us to a better place 20 miles away, the owner was a little rude and took his sweet time serving our needs. The hospital staff was miserable as were the travelers. The travelers worked 12's and the staff 8's so, the travlers got floated EVERY night after the 1st 4 hours and they used computer charting and it was almost impossible to get everything done especially in 4 hours with 6+ pts. Very stressful! all of the travelers worked for Aurues and NO ONE was happy and said the same things. no return emails or phone calls, lied about the hospital, etc... Aureus has in their contract they will deduct housing and "round trip" travel expenses if you break the contract and they did kept a $1300 paycheck. They were rude, hung up on my roommate and difficult to deal with. They made promises and then renigged on them. They will do anything to get you and then they leave you to fend for yourself with the wolves! I would not EVER work for them again!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice housing. Checks on Time. Fair deal.
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Never pick up the phone, always have to leave a message.

First assignment with this company. Better than some, not as good as others. The housing is really nice. They seem ready to comply with any reasonable request. I will use them again if they have an assignment I want.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): none
Negative aspects of the product (cons): inexperienced recruiters/working for hospitals, not nurses

Incredible lack of knowledge.Rude.Very low wages Benefits are terrible, and there is a 3 mos waiting period. Housing not as promised. Recruiters do not support needs of the RN, want more contracts and therefore lie to both the hospital and the RN. The worst of the PIMP in the hooker, john and pimp triad. If this PIMP wants to make more money off the johns(hospitals), they will have to learn how to treat the hookers or face losing them alltogether. Watch out for Todd, Jason, Travis and Kevin!!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Krystle is the only positive person working for this company and she is brand new
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Unprofessional

This could be one of the worse travel companies I have ever spoken with. Kevin is nothing more than a bad used car salesmen. He will lie to you in an attempt to get you to take an assignment with them. If you don't take one of the limited assignments they have, then Kevin will call you up and threaten you and try to bully you into taking it. I never signed a contract or had a verbal agreement about an assignment with them but when I turned them down on an assignment Kevin called and e-mailed me threatening to turn me into the "board" if I didn't take the assignment. He is rude and unprofessional but seems to think that I could be bullied into taking a position so he could make a commission off of my hard work. STAY AWAY from this company.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Negative aspects of the product (cons): ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING

I read the "Kevin" review with great interest.
He is absolutely the most unprofessional recruiter I've ever dealt with. You are SO CORRECT in your assessment of his work. He is a bully and has often threatened me. I spoke with other travelers regarding his behavior and they were appalled. I finally did stand up for myself and told him he had exactly 30 minutes to get me out of my rat-hole apartment or I was gone. He said that he would just have to end my contract, to which I responded......do whatever you need to do, Kevin. He called back about an hour later with his tail between his legs telling me I would be moved to a safer neighborhood. Later that same day I received a voice mail from him, sounded like he was drunk or stoned, telling me he pulled the plug and I didn't need better housing. I returned the message, responding that I was ending the assignment. When he called back after the weekend, he acted as though he had no recollection of leaving me the nasty and rude message. This guy is unbelievably bad and has no concept of what travel nursing is about. I saw his photo and he looks to be about 21 yrs old, as do all the other recruiters at Aureus. They each have their little "fiefdoms" and are apparently trying to outdo each other in recruiting travelers, mostly by lying. Kevin is associated with the Reno area, so stay away from working with him. Jason is working the Vegas area and is just as bad. Travis is also working Vegas and is one terrific liar. Basically, the company sucks and the owner will not return phone calls or emails....I think her name is Jean Ackerman.
OK, I feel better now.......whew! :d

Positive aspects of the product (pros): NONE
Negative aspects of the product (cons): EVERYTHING

I don't even know where to begin---I've tried 3 assignments with this company----
My very first travel assignment was interesting. I walked in and had 5 patient on the board---received no orientation except to fill out papers for the staffing lady the day before-------very overwhelming for a first time traveler----called my recruiter the next morning---my recruiter still throws it up in my face as my having been irrational---next, i go to south central LA hospital-------first of all, the unit manager promised to work with me on my schedule, then i show up and she's like too bad-----then their use of registry (and lack of experienced nurses) made for an unsafe environment and i was also almost physically assaulted (which the hospital supervisor even admitted to my recruiter) but again my recruiter acts as though i was being unprofessional--------Now i'm back in Colorado-------first of all i am housed 17 miles from the hospital-------and with this being an urban area, it can take 45 min at least to drive to work depending on traffic and snow---not to mention being so far from the social scene------now the hospital is changing my contract to a new unit-------so i discuss all my concerns with my recruiter and he tells me i'm just mad because i can't work with my friends-----he dismisses all my concerns------
not to mention there have been several times when they haven't received my timecard------despite my having kinko's confirmations---
they are cheap----only care about keeping hospital connections happy-----------------
my recruiter acts as though i'm lacking any professionalism, yet i still keep in touch with nurses from all my jobs, unit managers encourage me to come back as a traveler or as staff----------
my recruiter is Chadd--------if you work with this man now or in the future, limit contact to email only and not phone calls--------that way you can keep a copy of everything and he may not be able to twist your words negatively

Positive aspects of the product (pros): NONE
Negative aspects of the product (cons): EVERYTHING

My recruiter is Chadd---------this company is cheap, does not care about the travel, only cares about their hospital connections----Chadd will twist the truth, twist your words, and will tell you it's all you and you're unprofessional----if you deal with this recruiter, i recommend only e-mail contact, so you have records of all exchanges---------absolutely horrible company and recruiter------------would not recommend------will post routinely to warn others

Positive aspects of the product (pros): I love my recruiter, always pleasant, always listens...Kent Johnson (Northeast-MA,Ct,RI)
Negative aspects of the product (cons): 401K wait too long, limited assignments, completion bonuses would be nice

I had to subscribe to this site just to put my 2 cents in. I've worked for Aureus for 2 years. Yes they have limited assignments and you have to wait for 401k...Maybe you think they're not the best paying...However, they is nothing like someone actually picking up the phone when you call, whether to vent, gripe, grieve, or just get the 411. Kent Johnson's my recruiter. Pretty much every little question has been answered pleasantly and professionally. Found my own corporate housing, they ok'd it, even offered me things that aren't posted. LOVE MY HOUSING.
Every travel company's out to make a buck so all companies do the hustle, just like you do. It's having fun doing it that has been worth my while!!
The hospitals I worked for where all fine, the company makes sure your okay (I get those quality control phone calls all the time).
I can't speak for all the recruiters...just mine. So if you want to come to the northeast-look him up.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): unable to find one
Negative aspects of the product (cons): I can't count that high (LOL)

I would stay away from Aureus. My travel partner has had 2 contracts with them. The recruiter can rarely be reached once the contract is signed, the contract itself is over 9 pages and the majority of which concerns the fact that you have no recourse against them. I took one interview, was given an offer (said I'd think about it) and answered questions about my immunizations. I called the recruiter 3 days later to turn down the position and the recruiter THREATENED me. Words to the effect that I was breaking a verbal commitment, burning bridges with the potential hospital, and the HR people would tell everyone...

Positive aspects of the product (pros): one recruiter: Penny (friendly, truly tries to get what you want/need)
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Mostly unprofessional recruiters

Working with Jason and Kevin just about drove me to drink. It is funny to me that someone else had used the term "used car salesman" for them, because that is EXACTLY how I described them to someone. I haven't had to work with them for over 6 months now, so I have blocked out all of the negative interactions we have had, but I would NEVER EVER work with them again. Also, the housing is nice, but not what I expected. Very very small living quarters (no doubt so they can pocket more of the housing allowance) They are disorganized at times, calling to request something you have already faxed long ago, or stating they never got the fax even though you have the "sent successful" sheet in your hand. The pay is average. Hated waiting for the health insurance to kick in. Get EVERYTHING in writing with them, because even though you may verbally agreement, it is often necessary to hound them to get what you originally agreed upon in your paycheck (Jason told me Aureus would pay 1/2 the money it would cost for COBRA coverage (approx $270) to switch to their company from my own, and it took about 6-7 weeks, and firing Jason as a recruiter, submitting a written total for money paid to the insurance company and many MANY phone calls to actually see the money in my paycheck. By that time, it was too late, my COBRA opportunity was cancelled, because I had a lack of funds to pay the entire amount at once, and consequently had an unplanned trip to the ER, costing my $1600 out of pocket due to my lack of health coverage.) This current assignment will be my last one with this company. Oh, also, they would not give me my apartment for 2 weeks because I am working at an HCA hospital and had to take the PBD test that makes or breaks your assignment. They wanted to put me up in a hotel, but who wants to stay in a hotel for weeks, packing your stuff around in your car? Good thing I had friends in town... Oh well, it turns out my apartment is about the same size of a hotel room, so whatever, right? Honestly, there are too many reasons to list not going with this company. I have plenty more stories, but I think I have gotten my point across.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nothing
Negative aspects of the product (cons): Everything

I worked with Aureus on one assignment and that was one too many. I was going to go to Louisiana with them after Katrina but they couldn't find me housing. I had not signed anything so I said I didn't want to go and I got sent before the "board"because they said I was obligated to go since I said I would but if they can't find housing, that is not my fault. I then had Jason for a recruiter and went to Vegas. He is a liar, a jerk, a cheat and a coward. He said they would pay for half of my rental car since I told him I didn't want to drive all the way out there and he said "there are other nurses out there you can share a taxi ride with" when I got there, there were no nurses to share with and a taxi ride to UMC from where they put me up was $40 each way if there was no traffic. So they said get a car and we will pay half. That was like pulling teeth. I never did get all my money. Then I got no orientation at all, they were short staffed so they said here's 7 peds pts, the ratio is suppose to be 1:4 for peds and we will help you with the paperwork but you will get oriented the next night..NOT. I was in a room with 8 infants under 6 mos of age with no CNA. All were on monitors and had be fed every 4 hrs. I thought I was going to die. I stood up for myself and then the hospital cancelled me so Aureus did not pay for the car and my last check I was paid minimum wage. Stay as far away from them as you can!!!
