My experience was BAD.
I worked in the CCCU (Comprehensive Cardiac Care Unit) for 5 months, you got it, From ICU to floor status all in one unit. And do not let them tell you they NEED ICU nurses, you will be having TELE patients not the ICU ones.
And lucky you - you get to work 40 hours on this contract two 8s and two 12s. :whipping: Fridays are not part of the weekend so bank on working every Friday night. Patient's are downgraded and if status changes not upgraded due to staffing issues. Travelers are not excepted nor helped by the staff. Charge Nurses are not going to help you either. Assignments are not equally dispursed.
Management wanted to extend my contract, and lets just say due to scheduling conflicts, the nurse manager Sharon got pissed and made a scene in the unit, contract not extended. :frustrated: Best of all I was DNRd and no one tells me. I start working agency here and they find out and tell me. You are DNRd when you make a mistake on the job not because you show people how underhanded they are. And rumor has it on the island that is their MO- with agency nurses as well. But on a different note - I heard great things about the Main ICUs from a couple friends I made that worked there and even RTs.
Best part of the assignment was the great travelers I met and are still friends with. Serious bonding goes on when half the staff is travelers and we were all looking for an escape route.
