Having a different contact for each area

(y) The only reason that I didn't give this group a rating of a 10 is that I can't take them with me when I go someplace new! Because Supplemental Healthcare operates each office separately under one umbrella (so to speak) they all work independantly from another and some offices focus on per diem rather than travel nursing.
Pay was great, on time, no hassles, they did every thing they could to make our stay comfortable! Great group to work with, real people!

Never returns phone calls. Incompetent recruiters
|
|
I have contacted 3 of Supplemental's offices inquiring about positions they advertised. The recruiters I spoke with at each of these offices stated that they would mail me their application and they would call me back in a day or 2. Never received the applications, never received a call back from the recruiters. When I finally called back one of the recruiters she seemed very uninterested in finding me a position!

I was signed up with 9 travel companies and noone could find me a job. Then i met Alice Jouvelis in the New England office. Within three days of my paperwork being submitted, they found me a job in a great hospital, got me the highest payrate I have ever had, and a completion bonus. the only reason i didn't give them a perfect score is the fact that they have multiple offices and Alice can only get me a position in New England!

Got me moved to a more convenient apartment in a great location, Quick to return calls. Insurance paperwork was a little slow in processing. Helpful recruiters in the New England office. Application process was easy and less paperwork than with some companies. They delivered as promised on everything.

I am working a Lowell General Hospital. Staff could not be nicer, my apartment is very nice and close to facility, I have a great payrate, and am very taken with their personal approach.
My recruiter Alice took me to lunch and showed me the sights when I arrived. No travel company ever did that for me before.

Great staff in the New England office. Very strong in MA and around that area
|
|
Negative aspects of the product (cons):

Wish I could keep Alice and Robin with me no matter where I went
|
|
I have worked with the New England, Charleston, Dallas and Atlanta offices and have found the staff to go out of their way to help me. Maybe it's because I started out in the Woburn, MA office and they just seem to get things done for me no matter where I go. Only neutral comment is that the offices are regional so they each have to stay in their territory, but it seems like the offices know their areas in depth, not like some of the national travel companies that only have a phone relationship but have never set foot in the hospital. If they have an office in the areas you are intersted in, then I think they are definitely worth a call. Good luck.

Buffalo office Con Mentality,
|
|
They advertise they have a Psych Dept in their Buffalo National Travel Division but it is a marketing scheme. The have low pay assignments in Psych throughout the country but no more than other companies that deal in Psych. Local offices State by State may differ though. They do Per Diem and Travel assignments. No network communications between offices and everything is on paper and to add to that difficulty NO Toll free numbers to Fax application. A Red Flag as far as customer service goes.

Insurance could be a little better. Employee/traveler website could be more comprehensive.

Nobody's perfect but these guys seem to try their best. I will re-up with them. They focus more on maximizing net pay than on making sure you have a fitness room available.
They did help me with housing - making specific suggestions & negotiating good rates, but I was responsible for selecting my own housing. I put the tax exempt $1600 or so left over after paying my rent in my pocket.
Their insurance could be a little better but, again, their thing is to give you the most cash they can. A little less frills but a paycheck that rocks! Good job selection.

Able to raise my housing after 3 months numerous calls, faxes, and emails with return messages of "I never got your message"

Negative aspects of the product (cons):

Very poor communication

I was never given hospital orientation for my first assignment out in San Diego. My recruiter knew I was crossing east coast to west coast by car and failed to mention the day I was supposed to report to the hospital or that I was to report to a subsidiary company, which involved more tests....It was ridiculous. Basically my move was not smooth. I was also not informed of floating in the middle of my shift until I already accepted the assignment and on the day I actually started.
When it comes to clinically supporting you, you are on your own. Your needs or requests take too long to follow up on (ie, requesting to have another floor as your home base)

Positive aspects of the product (pros):

responsive to my needs - always got me the assignment that I wanted when I wanted it.
|
|
Negative aspects of the product (cons):
|
Though health insurance was free for my spouse and I, it was not the greatest coverage but took care of what we needed.
|
|
I investigated and compared many companies before selecting Supplemental. They were actually the only company that answered my three page questionaire. When I started with them, there was only one office, Tonawanda (Buffalo), NY. I started with an agent named Lisa Ann Miranda and she was still my gal when I ended my travels 41 states and 3 countries later. She and Supplemental were responsive to my needs. I got much personal attention, good bonuses, and many gifts. They know how to handle to taxes and the benefits.
New local offices are still developing; it may take some time for them to come up to Buffalo's level.
In the meantime, call the Buffalo Travel Division and talk to Lisa Ann Miranda at 800-543-9399. She is super. By the way, I started with them as a Psych Nurse. They had some great psych assignments. If I ever decide to travel again, I will call Lisa.
