Description:
|
We take nursing personally.
Strictly speaking, Across America Med Staffing places highly qualified healthcare professionals in choice locations throughout the United States. But this only describes what we do, not how and why we do it.
If you are a client, we make sure that people who join us - and work for you — are deeply committed to caring for your patients and enjoy working in teams. So while anyone who is qualified can apply, not everyone will be chosen as an Across America Med Staffing healthcare professional.
If you are a healthcare professional, we make sure that you have every opportunity to grow and apply your talents wherever you wish. Once you have made a commitment to us, we will put the full weight of our company and resources behind you.
Experience makes us wiser. And better.
We have over 80 years of experience in the nursing services industry. Name it and we have worked it — from bedside RN to hospital staffing director to chief financial officer of a nurse agency. Our skills have been honed in emergency rooms, personnel offices and corporate boardrooms both internationally and here in the United States.
We created Across America Med Staffing because we have done it all and wanted to do it that much better. Our mission is to provide services and responsiveness that will exceed our clients' and employees' expectations. We will achieve this by following tradition when it makes sense and breaking with it whenever we find an idea that adds value to our clients and employees.
Minority-owned and 100% women-owned.
We like to believe that being minority and women-owned gives us our caregivers' orientation. So, while we recognize that we are a business, we also realize that the ultimate measure of our success will be how well we cared for our patients, staff and clients.
Come along and see what we can do for you.

Kim, my recruiter works hard for her nurses. This company goes all the way for us. Would suggest to any good traveler.

Cons:

Dont handle to many positions for my specialty
|
|
They go out of their way to try to get you what you need. Even if you dont work for them, my recruiter, Kim has always been helpful to me and very supportive. She always says the right thing when you call/email and are having a terrible day. I can count on her to pick up my spirits. I would definately recomment her to the good nurses out there. Those of you who are dishonest or rude to recruiters should go find another company.

Kim, my recruiter works hard to find you an assignment. They have good insurance but it is expensive.

Cons:

Very few assignments, multiple mess up reguarding my pay, promises made but not kept,

When I first started working with Kim, she was great. But didnt have an assignment anywhere I wanted to go, but because I really liked her I took an assignment with them. I have even recruitered mulitple nurses to this company because in the beginning I thought they were different but its all a buisness.
First housing was a situation..I have a 55lb dog, they put up in housing that had a small weight limit....we called the first day we moved in told them that our dog was too big and lived out of a uhaul waiting for them to get back with us...a week later we were told it was all okay. After living there for two months my husband was verally abused by the apartment manger that our dog was illegal and that we were going to be evicted...called the company and told them what happened...they let us pick another apartment for my extenison at the hospital but made us live there the remaining of the first assigment. Once the assignment was over, we had to pay all the moving expences, deposits over....for a mistake that they openly admitted to that they turned their head to. Then the complex said we had hundreds of stupid charges for damages (for a dog that is never left alone..unless she is in her crate).....well the charges came out of my supposed bonus (my husband made a deal).
Next..I never got travel pay since I extended....every other company I have worked for paid you reguardless...kind of an insentive for staying....well the hospital was charged for the travel pay but I never saw it.
Next.. I found out that Kim was calling my friends that I recruited and told them the problems I was having..and that I was over reacting.....I find that very unprofessional. Espically because she sent me a nasty email telling me that it was unethical for me to talk to my best friend about my situation....but then she could call her.
Next..I found out I was pregnant..and in so many words was told that if the owner found out that I would be treated differently....well that is discrimination.
Next..I had a miscarriage and needed to have surgery...my doctor wanted me to be off for a week to have the surgery and recover both mentally and physically. AAMS immediate response when my husband called them.....YOU KNOW SHE WILL BE CHARGED HOUSING COSTS FOR EVERY DAY MISSED..ITS OUR PLOICY. Come on have alittle sympathy..espically since Kim knew that we have been trying to have a baby for three years..and this is my second miscarriage this year. Could have been handled better. Ever since that conversation I have not heard from Kim she refuses to call me. But continues to talk about me to my friends that I recruited for her. She told people of my miscarriage before I did and told one that she felt I was going to leave this assignment before it was complete...shows how much she respects me.
I think that is enough.
I know they work hard to get you an assignment..and will push states that you really dont want, Kim will sell you on her kindness.
If you choose to work for them, I hope you have a better experience than I have.

FRIENDLY
|

Cons:

Very limited areas of assignments and poor follow-through
|
|
My overall experience with this company, and I have not accepted any assignments with them, has been friendly. Kim Lawrence is a caring individual who is truly interested in her travelers...unfortunately overall I have found it difficult to get prompt replies to my queries concering assignments, locations, etc. and have found the "benefits" packages to vary from person to person, which I find disturbing.
The recruiters work out of their homes, and although they have all the assignment information on hand via their computers, I have found it distracting to speak with them while they are also conducting their personal affairs as being at home requires of them, while trying to do business.
There were only 2 choices, Yes or No in the question of whether to recommend this company or not...so I had to choose No, because I cannot give them an unequivocal YES...but this is not to say that others may find a greater level of satisfaction with them, and I would certainly recommend anyone who is interested to contact Kim Lawrence directly.

I haven't had any negative aspects

Trinidad is my recruiter and she is awesome. She has been extremely helpful with any concerns I have had, all of which were with the hospital and none were related to AAMS. There was never a mistake on my paycheck.
My only issue is the lack of opportunites.

Having been diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks after signing on with AAMS, they have stood by me and my family,as has the hospital my assignment is with. In my personal opinion, there is no group better, more caring, or more concerned about their nurses than AAMS. Kim is an awesome recruiter, as are all of them.

Slow communication from recruiters, limited assignments

I applied with this company but it took so long for a recruiter to contact me after I submitted my paperwork that I had already found an assignment with another company. The assignments they offered in my speciality area were very limited. Other companies offer better pay and benefits than this company.

|
Cons:

Hype Hype & More Hype
|
|
Hype Hype & More Hype. Received emails from Kim bordering on Evangelism and phony. Does not return emails or phone calls for a long time. Leads you through a stagering array of Human Resource Hoops to jump through yet no assignment worth much. I think people should pick their recruiter on effectiveness and efficiency and customer service. She acts as if you need her more than she needs you but she gets away with it with her sweet talk and charisma. Beware
