I have done pretty much all areas of adult med/surg. I currently work in adult medical oncology and love it. I got chemo certified two and a half years ago. The patients are complex and need quite a bit of care and present with any number of problems, some cancer related, some treatment related, some not related to either. It is always a challenge to try and figure out what is going on and why. I have cut my hours and am going to take a camp nurse job for half the summer and can't wait. I did that one summer when my daughter was an infant and loved it. When I went through my three pregnancies I did whatever job I happened to be in at the time. I didn't really care to change things as things were changing fast enough for me personally anyways! Looking back, though, I guess if you really feel it is time for a change, best to do it now. It might be too overwhelming to adjust to a new baby AND and new position! Good luck.
