The non-profit status is a bit of a pain, also..... Guess that might put a dent on things, too.
If there are so many positions open why can't we find jobs? I had a hard time finding a permanent job. There just aren't that many. And travel jobs are even harder.
Nsg school costs go up and up and instructor salaries aren't going up. IF you can find a job that is. There aren't that many openings there either.
Plus it is so hard just to get in to nursing school.
It's a bizarre system.
The only solution would be more schools and that's a big money making system. Why do nursing schools have to be connected to a college or university? On line basic courses and a vocational setting - like community colleges - will meet requirements and perhaps be more affordable.
States might consider assistance with funding of these programs with a payback requirement of 4 years in a hospital setting. The state paid my tuition years ago during the first 1970's nursing shortage. And look, I'm still a nurse! Woohoo. There was no application. No begging. Nothing. Just get in, take the classes and that was it. I had to pay for my books. That was all.
