What an awesome idea! Does anyone know where these steths can be purchased? This would work wonders on the ambulance and in flight nursing, where we can't always hear that well, due to noise on the scene.
stethoscope that can show physicians what previously they've only been hearing is being marketed by Medline Industries, Inc., Mundelein, Ill.
The CADIscope[umlaut] combines two highly-used medical devices an electronic stethoscope and an ECG (electrocardiogram) machine in a single, portable system.
Medline says the CADIscope is intended for physicians who do not have immediate access to an ECG machine or who are outside a typical physician office setting.
Further, says Medline, the CADIscope combination of amplified stethoscope and ECG may help physicians increase their skill at detecting abnormal heart sounds. Medline says that a study published in September, 1997, by The Journal of the American Medical Association said that newly-trained primary care physicians succeeded only 20% of the time at detecting major abnormal heart sounds using a stethoscope.
