Hi I am a new grad RN. I have been an LPN for seven years and have a variety of hospital experience. My goal has always been to eventually do travel nursing. I have interests in several different areas including (in order) NICU, ER, ICU, OR, Labor, Med- Surg. I could probably be talked into just about anything for the right travel nurse position. However, my question is... I am about to have to make the choice of what speciatly I will get that 1-2 years experience in before being allowed to do travel nursing and I am wondering is there one specialty that gets more job offers, or higher pay?
Welcome to the wide world of nursingNICU, ER and ICU offer the best pay and also have the most positions available, typically. I've noticed alot of L&D positions, too. My suggestion is to go with what fits you best, personally. If you love The Rush... ER If you like High Tech... ICU If very sick babies are your calling (God bless you!)... Go NICU Many jobs out there to be had. Best to do one that suits your nature.
Hi there and congrats! I have to agree with scuba-nurse. Pick something you enjoy- there's always a job out there somewhere. And you gotta like it to become really good at it.
