Re-Entry and having to re-take NCLEX

I have a question and your assistance would be appreciated.


I am coming back to nursing in NJ. My last year of having an active licence was 1990. My license has been inactive-paid in NJ from 1990 to 2012. Presently, i am taking a RN Refresher class.


Yesterday, I received an email from a vendor stating that I have to re-take the NCLEX.

I called up the NJ RN Board and they said no.


In NJ or in your state - would my above scenario require me to re-take the NCLEX?


I am asking so I can explore my options in NJ and for near by Pennsylvania.

I have never heard of someone having to re-take the NCLEX - sounds like some kind of scam to me especially if the call you received was from a vendor. Were they trying to sell you something as well. CHeck with your state board for the final word in your state.

I would listen to the NJ State Board. Probably a refresher course, but retake boards? Someone is scamming you!

Btw, under the Nursing Discussions by State, I did list all the State Boards, etc.
