King College will soon be offering a new nursing program.

The Bristol, Tennessee college announced today that it will offer a family nurse practitioner concentration.

Nurse practitioners are advanced practice nurses who provide services similar to those of a doctor. Nurse practitioners can diagnose and treat a wide range of health problems.

The new program at King is one day a week for 20 months for those who already have their nursing degree.

"It will be a tremendous boost to the community to have these people be functioning in public care settings," said Johanne Quinn, Interim Dean of the King College School of Nursing.

The family nurse practitioner concentration will be offered starting next fall.<!--stopindex-->
