    Alaska Board of Nursing

Alaska Board of Nursing:"The board adopts regulations to carry out the laws governing the practice of nursing and the work of nurse aides in Alaska. It makes final licensing decisions and takes disciplinary action against people who violate the licensing laws. The board meets four times a year and offers a public comment period at each meeting. Meeting agendas are available from board staff. We encourage you to review and use the various options presented on this website."

    Re: Alaska Board of Nursing

I have hit a brick wall trying to get my NP license (even a temp) to start an orientation for a communuty health job. I thought the strength of my NP California license and years of experience wpould facilitate my starting work quickly in Alaska. I got a temp RN license but need National Certification for consideration for NP license. I can find no place or person to appeal to. Anyone out there with a contact would be greatly appreciated. Helene

Huh, that's weird. You'd think in Alaska they would make it easier to practice rather than more difficult. They've got one of the highest nurse vacany rates nationally.

Have you tried contacting some of the national NP associations? You would think that they would be more accomodating. Are you getting any support from your soon to be employer there? Find it hard to believe they wouldn't be bending over backwards to help you.
