What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing? I am in general always concerned about humanity and life. However, I was considering other fields until I discovered that nursing was a profession that required extensive knowledge and skill and that through this I would be able to be an advocate for quality healthcare. I made that decision 25 years ago without any regrets.

Originally, after the service as a corpsman. Nursing attracted me one as a job I like doing and two as a place to meet women. I ended up married to a nurse and still in it 4 decades later. Must have been a good decision.

What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing? The idea of helping people on a very personal level was attractive to me. I wanted to be involved with patient care on an intimate level, so as to be most effective helping my patients recover.

Job security played into it for sure, and the pay isn't too shabby either. Not many places where you can earn $20-30 plus an hour off the bat with a two year college degree and nursing license.

Make no mistake, we do work for it. Like a plumber, we earn our pay working in sometimes ugly working conditions.

Actually, I was semi-joking about the money. The reason I went into nursing was because I was frustrated by the invisible lines of scope of practice between my prior field, respiratory therapy and my current field, nursing. Now I'm frustrated again...
