I'm not old school but you might be old school if you worked when pts were admitted 2 days before surgery to get their labs drawn.....
open hearts stayed in the hospital for a month
vaginal deliveries stayed for 5 days
T&A stayed 2 days
babies came in their own good time not around the docs schedule

Sugar and Acetone, can you believe we used to give people insulin based on that inaccurate dip stick test? And before the dip stick innovation, you had to mix so many drops of urine with so many drops of water in a test tube then drop a tablet into the solution. After it stopped bubbling you would compare the color of the solution with a color chart to find the relative blood sugar. Thank you Mr Accuchek.
