Hey i think you can become to involved but your their for the clients
I am a psych nurse and if my patients don't trust me it hampers their treatment. I run into far too many Nurse Ratchets who treat psych patients like dirt. My patients know that When they come to me they are safe and well cared for. You do have to be careful of transferance issues where patients become too attached but like the nurse who does long term care, I have been caring for most of "my Peeps" for years and I don't think it's unprofessional to show empathy and concern for patients and their families.

I think that was the question how far is too far? We're having a baby shower for one of our patients and the doctor is going in on the cake. We don't do that for every patient but this one have been a patient since 3/1 plus she's been a patient earlier in her pregnancy and was one last year and the year before. I don't think I (we) are crossing the line there some might.
hey cassio, how old is this lady thats having the baby if she is a resident i think she really is pushing it having a kid at her age, when shes nearly at the end of her life
Honey women at the end of life don't have kids and she's not a resident just seems like one...she's about 30 and has a condition related to her pregnancy that if she went into labor she and the baby could both die if they were at home. She came into the hospital when she was about 27 weeks pregnant (term is 40 weeks) we got her under control (she's bled alot) and now just waiting till hopefully next week when the baby is bigger and has a better chance until we do a c-section. She's been in the hospital basically on bedrest so at the first sign of a problem the section could have been done sooner.
ok lady i get your point, its natural to become to close to your clients, and also the staff it happens its life
live with it
