that type of crime is easier to deal with. This other stuff is more difficult to prove.

I have followed this thread. If U suspect that the agency that you are employed by is unethical it might be best to work for one that is. If someone is practicing nursing without a license I dont see how you would be responsible for their actions. RN's can be placed in a position meant for an LPN but are still held to an RN standard when practicing nursing. Yes I have seen uneducated non nursing folks making ignorant decisions as far as delegating tasks to unqualified people. Best to steer clear of those situations. Unfortuantly as nurses we may be a witness to many wrongdoings in the profession it is very difficult to look the other way but on the other hand seems as if we get the hell punished out of us if we Blow the Whistle. Sounds like you are a very sensitive person with high standards. Find a place of employmen whose standards match yours. Private duty might be a better environment for you. Hate crime? Against who? I am feeling a little bit confused. Good LUCK!

    Shelly,

The hate crime is against me. They have been very vague with their actions up until now. And you are right, I plan on going back to working in a hospital that was in LTC. I miss working and the atmosphere. I know that I can work in an LPN position and as an RN be held accountable. That's where the problem comes in. Oh I don't want to dwell on this topic. I did what I could do for as long as I could, it's time to move on. Thanks you helped me to see this a little more clearly. and you helped me to be a little stronger to endure this other stuff that is going on.

Re: Illegal use of some ones nursing license

dont know much about others using someone else's nursing license, but I am really angry that the facility where I work at has re-hired a nurse who worked 2 months on a non renewed license. She worked 2 months knowing that she didnt have a valid license and it irritates me to know that this so called LPN is working side by side to other nurses who have had their licenses in good standing for many years. MY DON said she had no choice but to hire this nurse back because "we have a shortage of nurses in the facility". So its ok to overlook the fact that this LPN worked 2 months without a valid nursing license, and we are suppose to pretend like it never happened while this 27 year LPN veteran who is 70 years old tries to boss us younger RN's around when she has no clue what she is talking about. Talk about a sad situation.

If she was actually doing nursing duties with an expired license you can report her to the board. When I moved cross country I started working for a fcility before my license came in, but I was doing non nursing stuff, getting to know the facility, basically on orientation for 2 weeks. If you don't mind me saying something, don't bother with the politics. Is this a LTC facility?

yes, this LPN with a non-renewed license worked 2 months knowing full well she was not licensed. How did I find out? I frequently go to my states professional regulation site to see who has gotten in trouble in the state. I just decided to look this nurse up because she was talking about how long she had been a nurse. I couldnt believe it when I saw she was working on a non-renewed licensed. Call me a tattle tale, but I had to say something to the DON. The DON was elated that she had finally found a reason to fire the 70 year old woman. The LPN had called in the day before and then didnt even show up for work the next day. I hadnt said anything to the DON at this time. I knew I was going to work with her, and I didnt want to be responsible for this LPN. She would actually be working on my RN license. I was not going to allow this to happen. But she didnt show up for work and I was relieved. The DON appolized to me for hiring her back. The DON tells me that the LPN is a know it all and a loud mouth, but we need the help. The first day after she came back to work, I had to lead her around by the nose. She knew her job there. She had been working there for almost 20 years. She decided to play dumb. She didnt do the work that was assigned to her and tried to act like she didnt know that she was supposed to do that work. What a joke. After 2 months of working on a non renewed license, taking down doctors orders, giving meds, counting narcotics with her and dealing with her trying to make me look like an idiot makes me angry. She accused me of calling the wrong doctor for one of our residents. I got so angry at her that I put the chart in front of her, pointed to the signature of the doctor and said, "there, is that good enough for you to see that I know what I am doing?" Then she had the nerve to ask the family member why they changed doctors. Talk about a complete idiot. Sorry about this post, I am rambling. I have worked too many double shifts this week and get one night off and let the posts being! LOL
