UPDATE: I am excited to say our meeting with the National Hispanic Nurses Association went well...altho I have found I lack in public speaking...I had this wonderful speech...I got half way through it and lost it...but Im pleased to say my heart and passion took over...in a way I think this is the best thing that could have happened....I was not reading from a script...I was speaking from my heart...the statistics that I did read...such as the american nurses association states "Working in a health care facility is reported to be one of the most dangerous jobs in the United States. In a national survey of RN's conducted by ANA in 2001, fewer than 20 percent of the nurses in this survey felt very safe from work related injury and illness in their current work environment, 40 percent had been injured on the job in the past year. Over three-quarterers of the nurses surveyed (76 percent) indicated that unsafe working conditions interfere with their ability to deliver quality care." Now to me this is staggering statistics guys...and I say we have came a long way since 2001...or have we? The US labor statistics states in 2006...there are 5.8 per 100 work related injury and illness in this field....that is what all this is about guys....who takes care of us? Who takes care of us when we have a back injury, knee problems, or we simply get older and cant do the physical demands this job entails...who take care of us? Honestly...I really want you to think about that....Take care and I hope to hear from you soon! Lisa
