    Re: Nurses for Nurses

Hi Alice...thank you so much for your support...we need all we can get...and it is very much appreciated! I am looking at a home in Tucson at this time...we have two nurses there that are interested in using their homes...I have to see if it will fit our standards...I find most do...these are nurses...being close to the hospital in a safe place is a must...the problem is we have to get the first one off the ground...but keep looking....we hope this will be all over the USA...the more homes we have...the more nurses we can help! Our intent is to help not harm...we will not pull in other investors until we know we can help them...So keep your eye out...and I will let you know how its going...take care...Lisa

I was a travel nurse for many years. I was licensed in 18 states. I have to say some of the people I have met during my travels were some of the most caring and dedicated people in the world. One day during a contract in San Francisco I was roller bladeing with my daughter. I used all the safety equipment trying to be a strong role model, however I fell and broke my wrist. When this happened I was unable to complete my contract. I was financially devastated. I had to move back home without a dime to my name. The state literally laughed at me. They stated, You’re a nurse…live off your friends and family! I was horrified. I had no home…no money and a daughter that depended on me. We were homeless for several months . I could not get a job due to the fact I was considered a liability. After three months a skilled nursing facility gave me a chance. I worked there with a broken arm taking care of others. It was hard for me to understand. I was still a nurse. I still thought like a nurse. I still cared like a nurse. But I could not take on the physical demands the job entails. I thought about this hard time in my life, and I could not believe that I was useless without the use of my limb. I have met many nurses that are in this same position. Many of us are getting older, and the physical demands are getting greater. What options do we have? I decided to start a company. This company is a small one. The concept of the company is for nurses to take care of other nurses. We rent or buy real estate. We cater to travel nurses and give them things no one else offers. This is ran and operated by nurses or medical staff. We offer deluxe housing in safe communities, close to the hospitals and perks that are focused on the needs and wants of the travel nurse. We offer investment opportunities for nurses to prepare for their futures. We hope to involve retired nurses to help with the company and help with income to supplement their social security. We have two homes at this time. One in Phoenix AZ the other in Spartanburg SC. I have nurses that have offered their homes in other locations. We are looking at one in Tucson at this time. Our first home is up and running now in Scottsdale...there are six hospitals within 30 min. This house is little to NO COST to you and the profit made will go to help other nurses and medical staff...this is a win win for everyone!!!! We would love for any of the nurses to come and see what this is about. I am not a writer as you can tell from this letter. I am not a millionaire with money to burn. I am a nurse. Where I come from that still counts for something! I consider myself blessed to have met all the nurses and staff over the years. I don’t want a big company to benefit from this company. This is for the people that are in the trenches, the dedicated, and compassionate men and women of the medical field. This company is built for them. I feel this could change the lives of many. We are just getting started and would love for you to be a part of it. Thank you for your time.

    Re: Nurses for Nurses

Hi Theresa...Im doing great...learning more and more....I was sidetracked for a few weeks due to my daughter...teens...shhhheeeeeesssshhhhh...anyways. ..back on track again...working on a business plan and grants to help with educational material for the nurses....marketing is still a problem...marketing takes money...and thats something that we all know...nurses dont have a lot of...thats why Im doing what Im doing...I knew when I started this Theresa it would be a difficult task....but my heart is in the right place...Im strong and hard headed...so I keep at it....I have many people that have offered help...some with money (I wont take...not until this is off the ground) and others time and experience....I can not even start to say how much I appreciate the help and support...the one thing I keep saying is...this company is ours!!! and who better to fine tune and better it? There are so many nurses and medical staff that have such wonderful ideas...and diff backgrounds...so every little bit helps! I have pics of the house on craigslist of phoenix...and have had people respond...the only problem is...it is mostly people are not in the medical field...and to be honest...this house is not for them...it is designed for travel nurses/resp tx/pt/ot...ect....so we keep trying...the magazine...I called last week...and they state they are looking at it....I keep trying...I write to all nursing magazines....and call all travel companies...most of what I get from the travel companies is...the nurses will not want this...my answer is...how about giving them the CHOICE....I think you may find they do! It is difficult for the companies to understand...there is nothing out here like this....so there is nothing to compare it too....you really have to see the home to understand the structure....pics do not do it justice...and to try and explain everything that is involved in this...its truely a mouthfull....I still struggle on finding a way to get the word out to all nursing/medical staff....Im not sure how to go about it...so if you have any suggestions they are very much welcomed....I am also working with american grant...I feel that is our heart is in the right place...there has to be some assistance...this is to better all of our lives....to help give jobs to retired and disabled nurses...to educate and enhance our lives...there surely has to be something out there to help us! Working full time and working on this in my spare time assures me this will take time...but what better way to spend my time...working on my dream...and helping others....I enjoy doing it! I have registered for some classes with the women small business association...so I know this will be a help...wont keep you...you know Im long winded...but I always love hearing from you! Take care girl...and dont give up on me....I havent! Lisa

    Lightbulb Re: Nurses for Nurses

    Lisa,

What about starting our own nursing magazine called "Nurses For Nurses" with a listing of houses owned by nurses for nurses. Interviews with nurses of different job catagories/depts, areas of the country. All your ideas in one quarterly magazine, to fund help fund this company. Subscribers would be nurses across the country and...I suspect copies to travel nursing companies would be a plus to get them to place their nurses into these homes???????

The web page does need some work...any RNs out there that are computer savy that can help out with Lisa's web site idea. Your website should show ticons with the areas where the houses are (city) then one photo of each, then click on that photo to see various other pics of that house. You should have 15-50 houses on there. You need to collaborate the housing from all the nurses that have contacted you and have them send you photos with descriptions of the home, the area, local hosp. info, etc.

Don't worry Lisa, this is not impossible. It is a lot of work but it can be done and we as nurses need to take care of each other!

If there is something I can help you with email me! I usually check my email 2-3 times a week.

    Re: Nurses for Nurses

Hi Theresa...this sounds like a wonderful idea!!!! I would not know how to go about this...but of course...I learn every day! I love hearing ideas from other nurses....I think you would be shocked of the bright ideas and suggestion I get...keep them coming guys...this is what its all about...us taking care of each other...we already share a wonderful bond...we do what we do because we love it...so I say lets take it a bit further!!! Yes your right Theresa...I hate that website...and it needs a terrible amount of help...it shows none of the compation..dreams...or intent of all this...just pics...and that NOT what we want at all....so again...anyone that can help....feel free...we want you to be involved...I can not stress this enough...this is YOUR company guys...lets make it the best it can be! Take care...Lisa
