A touchy subject/ what if there is Death/Illiness

I decided to go into some detail here because I have experienced several in the past few months. It's something we do not like to talk about, expect or even predict. It's my belief that what ever your destiny is, it will be. So please allow me to me go into detail about the unspoken subject. One should always wonder, what if and what would your current travel company, could, should, or maybe do. This last two months have been strained on many of my travelers. I will not name names, nor tell you who, they are all beautiful ones to boot.

After talking an assignment, a family member went on a critical list and she decided not to travel to the assignment. What did we do? We embraced her, prayed for her and even after getting the apartment, informed the client, who was great about it. After all this is her brother, a very VIP to my traveler. We said later and another time and so did the client. She will travel again in Feb, a wonderful person.

A week later, we had another person on her way 2 hours and was called back because her Mother had a stroke, she was critical what did we do. We prayed for her and embraced her, called the client and put off the start date for up to 1-2 weeks. Did we charge the traveler for the week we paid for the apartment.......HELL NO. Could we have yes, principal, ethics.....,all types of reasons. My nurse and her husband got themselves ready in a week, which we thought was unbelievable.

Before all this, our nurse was on assignment for 1 month and her Father fell ill, she called us and the employer and flew out...................yes he died, but not till a week later. Did we beat her up for leaving? No, can she travel again, yes. No one plans on a partner or parent or sibling getting ill or dying, what would your current travel company do for you? Would they pray for you? Would they care about you, would they welcome you back? Would they do the things we did? Some may, some may not, but folks what you need to ask yourself is your present company going to be there for you in crisis? I know a few that will and many that will not. If you get a company to care about you like that, you have a friend for life. Be selective and pick a company that cares about you personally. You are not a piece of cattle, you are all talented and giving people. Do not be afraid to ask your company for their understanding. In fact ask them what is their policy on matters of the heart. We give bereavement time, do they? I would love to hear some of the good and bad stories from others experiencing this.
