most employees in many jobs won't discuss general pay rates over the phone. Put in an application and it will come up in an interview. Does it really matter over the phone what the pay rate is if you're going to work as a nurse anyway. If you go to job fairs they may give you a salary range. Ask nurses you know at facilities they might tell you but people are programed to not tell what you make. I think if more people would "tell" then things might be more in line.....
.I just found out the the hospital I work at has raised the per diem rate to a little more then what I make at the top of the clinical ladder (lots of committees, inservices, certifications). I could quit (going to in Oct to travel) and make a bit more without the extras there is always per diem work on my unit we've been short for months and see no end to it now and I don't take the insurance anyway.
