    San Francisco

I have been traveling for several years and really enjoy it. I want to go to San Francisco for my next assignment. Can anyone tell me about the hospitals in the city. Good ones and ones to stay away from. Also, I travel with two small dogs any suggestions on the best place to stay. I was in the army at the Presido back during the gulf war and have dreamed of going back to that beautiful city one last time. The company I work for will put me were I want to stay and appears to have several assignments could really use help.
    Thanks

Have you checked in our review section to see if anyone reviewed some of the hospitals in that area? Hopefully they did, and you can see how they rated different aspects of the hospital, and it's overall rating. Also you may find their personal comments, such as Pro's and Con's of the facilities.

    Wish you luck.

San Francisco is very dog friendly, most apartments allow them.

UCSF is the finest in the city (US News top ten both as a hospital and as a College.)
Mt Suttro apartments walking distance, dog friendly but like ALL apartments in the city basically a dive for $1,500 a month

Kaiser (several locations) pays the best but work you the hardest.

San Francisco General treats the homeless, gangs, projects, uninsured, adicts, etc, etc etc. and pay the lowest

Other hospitals St. Lukes, St Mary, California Pacific in SF and Seton in Daly City (no info)

AltaBase in Oakland but try to stay in SF

Currently I am on assignment in San Francisco at UCSF Mt. Zion division. It has been converted into the cancer center and is a great place to work. No call or weekends and good cases. UCSF also has too other surgical units. The main one is Parnassus and it is very busy, hectic, and unorganized. I was sent there once and was thrown into situaions that I felt were not in my best interest. The ambulatory sugery center is a great place also. My apartment is South Beach Marina Apartments. Nice apartment and complex. Been very happy here.

I am currently at CPMC ( California Pacific Medical Center) at the Pacific Campus and love the assignment.....great Marina apartment with a panoramic view of the Bay and the GGBridge...CPMC has three campuses and I have worked two of them, the third is LD and women's specialty. The nurses who regularly work for this group seem particularly happy and have been great to work with....

Washington Hospital in Fremont is good place to wor. Housing close to the hospital allows dogs, BART is next to the hospital so visiting SF on days off is easy. Only draw back is a lot of the departments work 8 hour shifts. Give them a try!

San Francisco is a beautiful city. Mill Peninsula Hospital in Millbrae is one of the worst hospital I have ever worked at. Almost every day you float to a different floor and most days 2-4 different floors in 1 day. Good Luck on choosing your next facility, I love traveling, it is a great way to see the USA.
