ready to travel in 2005? What are my choices?

I would be interested in hearing more about that 8000$ bonus mentioned. What are the rates for most contracts etc? I am looking for a contract rate of about 32-35 per hour in texas or another compact state? Any offers?
Have 4 year acute and step down care experience. Currently working an LTACH unit in west texas and work is so slow I need to get and work more than I currently am.....

What the heck is a 'compact state'?? I have just started exploring travel nursing and have seen this term on several posts...never heard of it?

Okie dokie,
A compact states is one of the states that has made an arrangement with another state so that nurses may travel more freely between states without having to get a new licensce for each state.. There are currently 13 states I believe but look it up under yahoo search and you will find out who all is a member. As a texas nurse I can travel to tennesse and arizona for example without having to get a licensce in those states unless I permanently move there.

Re: ready to travel in 2005? What are my choices?

Hi I'm a travel nurse recruiter with Preferred Health Care. We are a division of AMN Healthcare. Anyway, the only $8000 bonus going on right now is in Fresno, CA for LD RN's. They are looking for 20 Rn's who will work LD over all of the holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, . The pay rate is $30 an hour and the shifts are 12N. That is the only one out there paying that kind of money. There are a few others in California and AZ right now that are paying anywhere from $2500-$6500. Let me know if you are interested and what specialty you are working in and I'll let you know if I have anything.

If you are interested in finding out more about my company, please e-mail me back with your address and I will make sure a packet is sent out to you. We are one of the largest travel nursing companies in the country and we do have 90% of all the hospital contracts in the country including exclusives with hospitals such as Stanford, and NYU. Please do not hesitate to call me at my toll free number below if you have any more questions. Thanks and I look forward to speaking with you soon. Also if you want, I can e-mail you a list of the compact states if you need it.

Sincerely,
Marci Herman
