question for recruiters.

Hello Recruiters!

I'd like some information about the best preparation for travel nursing. Which specialties are most in demand?

I am a newer RN (1 year out of school.) I work in a 400 bed hospital. In four years I plan to do some travel nursing. What experience would help me earn the best compensation and have the widest selection of locations to work? Due to personal commitments I cannot do travel nursing any sooner than four years and I would like to gain experience that will be the most marketable.

Thanks in advance!

Re: question for recruiters.

Hello there!

Excellent question. You are on the ball! You are off to a good start by researching the possibilities now. The hot clinical areas are always ER, ICU and Med/Surg/Tele. Definitely get as much exposure to your choosen area now. As a traveler you will be expected to hit the ground running. You are off to a good start. Good Luck!

Re: question for recruiters.

Hi!
Very wise of you to start thinking about traveling in advance! Along with Critical Care, ICU etc. There is a huge need for Labor & Delivery Nurses in California.... Best of luck to you!

Re: question for recruiters.

If you're interested in travel nursing but you have a ton of questions, here’s a reference that may be helpful:

Basically, you must have at least one year of recent experience in your specialty – and a bit of wanderlust is helpful.

Happy Trails!
