I want to travel

I now work in a 22 bed CAH hospital. Our ER is busier than most small hospitals due to the area where we are located. I have worked here about 15 months, and have done everything from emergency deliveries to running codes. I am wondering if it is possible for me to start traveling as an ER nurse?
Thank you in advance for your input.

Re: I want to travel

If you have at least 1-2 years ER experience, you certainly can travel. Most hospitals will want you to have ACLS, PALS, & TNCC, so getting those will increase your chances of getting hired for various assignments.

Re: I want to travel

I am still unsure, because i do have the 15 months experience, but it is a rural hospital, so it is ER and all areas, so does that count as 1-2 years ER experience? sorry that i am so confused. I do also have ACLS, NRP, STABLE.

Re: I want to travel

If you have 2 or more years experience I say hit the road! It is so much fun being a travel nurse. Check out sites like www.travel-nurse-jobs.net and www.nurse-travel.net. You also might want to check out a book called, "Highway Hypodermics: Your Road Map To Travel Nursing" (www.amazon.com) for some really good insight into travel nursing. Good luck!
