canadian nurse

Help. I am a Canadian nurse, licensed here in Canada. I would like to obtain a US license. I have already done all the paperwor, transcripts, fingerprints etc, in California, but I need a US social security number to get licensed.

How do I do this? From what I understand, I need to have a job to get a license, but then I need to have a license to get a job.

HELP

Charlene

Have you written the NCLEX exam? When I moved to California from Ontario, I discovered my RN license from Canada ws not valid. I don't think you need a SSN in the U.S. to write the board exam. As for getting a job out here, you might want to start with a travel company to see if you like it here on the left coast.

Re: canadian nurse

Thanks for the reply. I have not written the NCLEX but as I understand, there are a number of states that will recognize your Canadian education as long as you have supporting documents. California is one of those states and I have done everything there, except get an SS number.

Re: canadian nurse

What part of Canada do you live in? I may be able to help you. I am a recruiter and you can email me @ bill.deangelis@pprinc.net. I will be able to provide you with information as well as find you a travel assignment in California. We have positions available across the U.S.

Take Care,

Bill
