Awaiting employment

My name is Jessica and I am trying to find a travel job on the east coast of the United States, preferring to be near the beach. I have been looking for about a month now and about two weeks into my search, I had a misconception of this process and the time in which it takes to find a travel job and placed my two week notice into my employer! I have a license in PA and would love to go to a walk-through state as it would be more beneficial. I am currently with a few different companies. My specialty is cardiopulmonary, telemetry, including cardiac intervention, open heart floor, acute MIs, etc. I have a year and 9 months of experience. How long does this process of finding a travel job take?

In the past, experienced nurses could find assignments within a week or two. With the economy the way it is, assignments have dried up. I know travelers who have been looking for a couple of months....

Its basically impossible to cancel the notice since I placed it in three weeks ago! GEEEZZZZ!!!!!! A few months . . . I can't wait that long . . . maybe I should just start looking for a permanent position around here!

Have you been submitted to any travel jobs? 9 months of experience is not that much. Some travel job postings I've seen lately ask for 2 years experience and prior travel.
Apply for per diem and work it full time until a travel job comes up.

sorry a year and nine months and yes i have been posted to a few jobs . . . not exactly where I want but I guess its not the best time to be picky about the job. . . it just seems as if time drags. . . i'm just living and learning

i am 2 months out now and am going to interview with a perm position since the jobs are so far and in between these days. totally a pain.
it used to be so much fun to travel and to find jobs but now it is really getting crazy out there. too sad.
i hope it changes again but i suspect it will be like this for a while yet.
i am sure it will change later on in a couple of years but for now i am one of the nurses having to go perm somewhere. oh well.
i will gain a minimum of 2 more great years in my field and if i go back to travel i will have almost 19 years as a nurse.

It is looking as if I am going to have to find a permanent position. This does kinda suck. Actually, it does suck. . . but what are you going to do. . . looks like you cannot plan your life how you wish it to be. . . .
