Idaho State grads has 100 percent pass rate

Congrats! ISU Nursing Graduates Net 100 Percent Pass Rates on National Exams - News

The Associate Degree Registered Nurse (ADRN) program at the ISU College of Technology recently received notification that 2008 graduates of the ADRN program have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Also, the Practical Nursing program graduates have also achieved an overall pass rate of 100 percent on the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in Chicago develops and analyzes the NCLEX-RN examination for all graduates of professional nursing programs. Statistics recently released from the NCSBN show the ADRN program as the leading professional nursing program in the state of Idaho, ranking number one in the nation for all RN programs (1 of 1,599).

"This is quite remarkable given that our nursing program is just three terms in length and that each of our students has two or more risk factors for NCLEX-RN failure," said program director Linda Smith, M.S., D.S.N., R.N., C.L.N.C.

The ADRN program is unique because its intent is to reach out to Idaho health care facilities and their Licensed Practical Nurses and to offer required coursework through distance-based delivery methods. This new alternative delivery option helps students earn an associate of science degree while remaining in their home communities.

The Practical Nursing (PNUR) program at the ISU College of Technology is designed to prepare graduates for careers as LPNs. Completion of the PNUR certificate program and academic pre-requisite course-work provides opportunity for the graduate to articulate into the 11 month ADRN program.

Students interested in the nursing field can complete a certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification through Workforce Training, advanced technical certificate to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and an associate of science degree to become a registered nurse (RN), all at the College of Technology.

The College of Technology's PNUR and ADRN programs are fully approved by the Idaho State Board of the Nursing. The ADRN program is a candidate for accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and recently hosted the accreditation visit. For more information about the PNUR and ADRN programs, please contact College of Technology Student Services at (208) 282- 2622.
