| worried about nursing I am very worried about nursing school. I was accepted to nursing school in January. AT Midwestern state University you are only allowed to fail two classes. Well I failed Health assessment. I am worried because it pushed me back a semester from my original graduation date. I have always wanted to be a nurse, and I don't want one class stopping me from pursing my dream. Sometimes I have trouble understanding the material, and sometimes I have test anxiety. I always narrow my answers down to 2 and pick the wrong one. If I cant understand Health assessment then it will only be harder for me through out nursing school. Next semester I have to learn how to do drug calculations and I am having trouble with that as well. Any good Ideas or websites that will help? Also I applied to the respiratory program and was accepted, but i don't want to accept it because nursing is my dream not respiratory. What should I do? Does anyone have any Ideas for good test taking skills, memory tricks, math calculations, etc.... I really want to do good next semester and don't want to fail any more classes. I want to use this failure as a lesson learned, because i had a hard semester. Is there anyone who's ever been in my shoes?????? |

| Re: worried about nursing I just finished my third semester of nursing school in GA. Every nursing school I know has the policy that you can only fail two classes and then if you fail the third you are kicked out. I have personally never failed a nursing class, but I have had numerous classmates that have. They continued on and they have done well in every other class. Nursing Assessment is a hard class but so is pharm. Nursing school in general is one of the harder majors. Don't let the failing of one class discourage you from your dream. I am 26 and will only have one BSN degree, but I have had things in my life happen that postponed me getting my degree. When it comes down to it, all that matters is that you get your degree, don't let anything discourage you from your dreams. Life is all about having dreams and trying to reach them. I have made easy books (i.e. clinical pharmacology made easy) and a series called prentice hall reviews and rationales (i.e. child health nursing: reviews and rationales). These books have really helped me because it gives you the same info pretty much but in a more concise manner than text books. Plus there are questions in them that get you thinking. I also have a critical thinking nursing book; this could help you with your test taking skills. Nursing tests normally do have two right answers, but one is more critical or more "right" than the other one. Don't give up. If you need any other info or advice,I will be happy to help you!:luck: |
