| New User Hello Hello, I am a new user found this site doing a search looking for a better alternative to another forum which I had really not found what I was looking for at. I am a Cardiac Stepdown RN, with nearing 11yrs experience, who is currently like many nurses looking at the job market considering my other options. DM |

| Re: New User Hello Cary, I sent you a PM. I started out as an Army Nurse Corps Officer after completing ROTC @ Capital University in Columbus, OH. You probably have a few nurses from Capital U at Madigan because it spewed out ANCO's like mad for a few years, including a class of nearly 20 at one pt. I started out in a Cardiac Step-Down Unit at Eisenhower AMC, after having worked in a CCU as a student during my 16wk preceptor ship during my last semester. It prepared me to such and extent that I was charge nurse within 3mos. on the job in the Step-Down Unit in the Army, maybe mostly because we were stuck with an inordinate number of older 1LT's who really weren't motivated, and had been passed over back in the days when the Army actually passed over a few 1LT's to CPT. So I just fell into the job. Pretty much my whole career has been be the "Person in charge," mostly because no one else will take the bull by the horns. But the Army trained me very well for civilian life as a nurse. I came to the Civilian world with a boatload of experience and a far better knowledge base than even 20yr nurses. I don't know what I really want to get into at this point. I'm considering ER, CCU, and Cardiac Step-Down, but I think I will just want to be a staff nurse, rather than try to run a place that is trying to make more and more money rather than show concern for the patients the staff are trying to care for. And sadly enough, I work in a "NOT FOR PROFIT" Hospital!!!!!
