    New and Need Advice

Hello! I am a new grad (yesterday to be exact)!:houra: Now it's time to pay back my LARGE student loans and was wondering if any one had suggestions on who to use and possibly not to use for consolidation? ThankQ!

Sorry I can't help you with your consolidation question, but just wanted to congratulate you on your graduation. Feels pretty good, huh? :-)

I graduate Saturday...and the advice I was given was to wait. If you consolidate..you lose your grace period and have to start paying immediately. I was told to wait until the grace period was over...then consolidate..unless of course you already have a great job. Either way..you can make payments and lower the principle.

Welcome to the site, Sugarbear. If you pay a bit extra, it'd look good, too.

BTW......Congratulations! Good luck on Boards, too.

Hello and welcome to the forum Sugarbear25......there are 2 things you can do....one is ask for forgiveness for your loans......if you have a good reason the government can dismiss all or part of your loans......two, you can ask to have your loans forgiven because you will work in an area where you are needed like an indian reservation or other poor area where healthcare is hard to come by....usually 2 years will take care of it......something to consider.....:luck:

I applied for the Nursing Loan Forgiveness Program when I was a new grad working in WI. My hospital qualified for the program, but for some reason I was not chosen- maybe it's different in other areas, but for me, it was a huge waste of time & effort...

    Re: New and Need Advice

I found my original agreements were the best on my loans. The percent interests were great and it was $50.00 per month and would not change.
If you have equity in a home or someone willing to co-sign you might get a better deal.
