New Nurse on Board ~ Hello Everyone!

I'm excited to have found this board. :houra: I've been looking around alittle and it looks interesting and informative. I'm an older nurse. I don't yet consider myself old. I can keep up with the youngest of nurses!

Welcome to the site! Glad to have you with us. The way I see it, age is just a number, and experience is a good thing.

Hope to see many more of your posts.

Welcome to the forum SeasonedRN.......age makes a good topic for posting.....from the 21 yo new grad to the 70 yo veteran.........should age be taken into consideration for any job in nursing?........I say yes........both myself and my wife got to the point where the physical aspect of taking care of patients in some units was just too exhausting.......i'm not saying nurses should be put out to pasture (sorry moo cow) when they reach a certain age but administration is within its right to call a nurse into the office when they see a problem and discuss moving to a different job......there are plenty of positions that are "easier" on the body in nursing.......utilizing that seasoned nurses knowledge and experience in other ways.......not everyone is cut out for management but there are plenty of other jobs that are not so physical.....8 hour days versus 12 hour days also.......
