The first time I heard about problems with the drinking water was when I was still in Europe. We had the problem that plenty of fish "feminized". After they tested the water, residue from Birth Control pills was found, possibly from urinating. I read an article where they suspected that the early maturing of teenage girls can be connected to it.
It's just crazy to me, that pharmazeutical companies, hospitals, etc are not being held accountable for dumping waste in the water (or actually any kind of proper recycling for all companies). I never flush any pills down the drain. Back in Europe I used to take the unused pills back to the Pharmacy for proper disposal. Here, I am currently collecting expired pills until I find a suitable place for proper disposal.
