New here and needing advise about travelling.

Hi all. I have been reading these posts for awhile now but havent taken the time to register, so, here I am and saying hello. Here is my story.

Im a 43 y/o male, graduated in May 07 with my nursing degree. I have been working in a busy ED since June, prior to that I was a Paramedic for 22 years. Im married with 2 teenage girls and would like to do some travelling for the increased wage to reduce debt. ( Daughter going to college soon).

My question, is there a place for me in the travel nurse industry? Ultimately I would like an assigment close enough where I could fly home for short 1-3 days visits. I dont need luxuary accomadations, wouldnt mind having a rental car, and I dont need health insurance. Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: New here and needing advise about travelling.

WELCOME! Most ER's and travel companies want you to have 1-2 years of ER RN experience before you travel, but with your extensive background, many might consider you with a year of experience in. Talk to several different travel companies and tell them what benefits you need- go with the one that fits your needs the best. Many companies offer rental cars, and most will let you take a higher hourly wage instead of insurance.
