Smile New GN and new to the forum; info about Austin, TX???

I'm a new GN and am planning to move to Austin, TX in June. I have a few interviews with St. David's the first week of June...and was just trying to get a feel for SDHC and Seton hospitals. Any advice or insight would be soooo helpful.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the hospitals in Texas; welcome to Ultimate Nurse.

Re: New GN and new to the forum; info about Austin, TX???

Hi
I have never worked in Tx but want to caution you to ask if you can
shadow nurses before you take a position anywhere. Also make sure the hospital has a good orientation process.

I work on a unit where the new grad turn-over is really high. It is a busy under staffed 40 bed SICU. I am seeing the majority of new grads come off orientation as they are being thrown into assignments that
overwhelm them.

We have 10 new grads who will be off orientation this next week. I really feel for them.

Congrats on graduating. I have been a nurse for 20 years and still love what I do.

Peace
Christine
