Hi. I would like to network.

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with University of South Alabama? I've been accepted for Spring 2010 for the Adult/Gero NP program online. I should have applied for psych, I don't know what I was thinking...I haven't "signed here" yet, I'm not sure this is a great move or not. I don't want to be stuck with something I can't use.

I got kicked off allnurses.com because I wasn't uppity enough. The only thing that bothered me was that there was another user who was also going to USA and they booted me before I could give her my contact info. I guess I will have to infiltrate the site again just so I can do that. What a bunch of jerks and losers. If I believed in curses I'd put one on that site that would send it to cyber hell.

Anyway, I'm sitting here with my acceptance letter and form for a drug screen. It doesn't even tell me wat do do with this drug screen. Where do I go to get it?
I'm not sure I have anything to get excited about, because I am hearing of adult NPs who can't find jobs. I guess they wouldn't let me switch tracks now.

Hi and welcome to this site.
Slow down a bit and get more information about the available programs. You can switch to Psych. You are right about not being able to find some NP jobs. Call this program and find out where to get drug screen test, guess local lab, as you are paying for it.
Why did Allnurses boot you.. Did they tell you why.

Well, there was a private message but since I had been banned I couldn't open it. I did not have a good relationship with several of those people before. As I mentioned, I believe I was not liked because I did not hold some aspects of nursing in as high a regard as they did (for example, I don't think much of the way some educators try to build up nursing to be something it isn't, anyway, they didn't like it because they perceive themselves as being on pedestals and I basically told them they were full of themselves (I guess, I can't think of anything else I did to them.) I'm not losing 3 seconds sleep over it, but I do wish I could contact my friend.

I just called USA to see about switcing tracks. I'm afraid they're going to tell me I've got to reapply and go through all that again.

Well, you may as well see what they have to say, even if you have to fill out stuff. It's better to be a field that you can get a job......and be happier. I've met several NP's who could not find work. The big field is Oncology , ER, Psych.
I think you will like this forum.
Keep us posted

Re: Hi. I would like to network.

Hi "Oldbroad".. funny!

Welcome... I'm new here too. I'm not very familiar with online RN to NP programs, but I'll tell you something that might interest you. I'm due to begin a new job the first week of NOV. with a relatively new company called Take Care Health Systems. Walgreens owns them. They are really an exciting company to watch! Google them fyi if you care to. They only began in 2004 and are now 400 + clinics nationwide. They employ many NPs. I will be working under one much of the time. Recently Take Care merged with Humana and two other companies. I've read that this company will be 1000 + clinics by 2010.

I've been on a 2 month hiatus from employment and have had much time to cruz the www and on one of my googles, I began reading about the wave of the future in healthcare which is these convenient care centers or CCC's for short. Guess who's gonna be in charge much of the time? Yep, Np's and PA's; they will be under the jurisdiction of an MD, of course, but I don't think that Np's are going to have any trouble with employment in the not too distant future. This new health care plan that the prez. wants in place has many people nervous about medical school. This country is in trouble with it's med. school enrollment and has been for that past decade. Np's and Pa's are going to be sitting really pretty.

A few more words about this company I'm going to be working with, the pay is phenomenal to start. I'm starting at $1 more per hour on day shift than I was offered on a ICU. The stress level couldn't possibly compare not even on my worst day at occupational health I don't believe. Then there's shift diff. as well. I'm really excited to start with this company!

Regards,

sunnie

Re: Hi. I would like to network.

Hi again,

Just read through your last post again... I'm not privy to what went down on that other website, but nursing, in my opinion, is an awesome priveledge. When I think back on my career, I've had some wonderful opportunities/experinces that nobody but a nurse could have. I love what I do and how I've been able to "make it better" "help it go away" be a friend, mother, attentive listener, hand to hold when someone's loved one is dying, you name it, mechanic.. lol., we get to be it/do it sooner or later (smile). Maybe these educators had some of my experiences? I know there are some hellish situations nurses have to work in, and many times it's because we're stretched too far, management takes it on the chin there if they won't pitch in. I hope you find a program that will accomodate you, but don't ever go into nursing just for the $$ is what I feel. I had a collegue tell me that once. I told her that's stupid, if its $$ you want, should have been a lawyer!

Re: Hi. I would like to network.

Welcome to the BETTER site! So you're an Analnurse 'reject'? Don't worry, as there are many here who have become VERY disallusioned with 'that' site, and quite a few others who have been treated like poop.

I advise you do NOT try to infiltrate them to contact anyone, as you WILL be caught. There are some Admins there who do read PM's, trust me! I will assure you that we at UN do NOT! We at UN have never, and WILL never abuse our rank/privelages. If you have any questions, comments, etc., we will do our best to straighten things out.

Anyway, again, glad to have you with us, and hope to see you VERY often!

'Cat'

Yea, cougar, I imagine you're right. Talk about losers with no lives, I think they are probably best left in their fantasy world, they aren't worth the waste of time...well, maybe I can find good company here. Maybe my 'friend' will see the light soon and come on over here.
