Hi

I'm new to this and looking to pursue a different avenue in nursing. Looking for different ideas for an RN with over 25 years experience. I have no desire to work in a hospital or clinic.......been there done that. Prefer to work with the elderly........not sure doing what....not too fond of nursing home care. Would like to either start a PCH or non medical home health agency. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Hi

Hi, Carol! Nice to meet you. Have you ever considered assisted living?

I know of a nurse lvn actually who works with a group of Dr.'s who specialize in geriatric medicine. She makes weekly telephone contact with the patients and basically see's how they are doing. Determines if they need a home visit
from a nurse or physician. This is some kind of pilot program with a managed care and has been quite successful at identifiing at risk patients and treating them thus preventing unecessary ER visits and also treating them before they require hospitalization. Pt gets better care, HMO saves $'s, Dr's get to take care of patients - everybody's happy!

Don't know where you are or how you would find out about this stuff but it might be right up your alley.

Supposedly 8 out of 10 people suffer from hemorrhoids. Does that mean that the other 2 people enjoy them???

I am convinced that certain college courses were invented to drive me to insanity. Luckily, it would be a short trip.
