| Hey, new to the board..... Hey ya'll! I'm finally getting to start work after I graduated in Dec. 2006 and I'm so ready! ...planned on working in 2007 but a week before my husband deployed to Afghanistan we found out we were expecting so I stayed home and now I'm so excited to finally get out and work. XoXo |

  | Re: Hey, new to the board..... Hello 1877, Congratulations on the newest member of your family, and graduation (belated). Do you have any idea what kind of nursing you want to go into? Time use to be that the only options for new grads were night shift on med/surg. Nowadays, with the shortages, you can train in ICU, ER, etc right off the bat. Discovernursing has a long list of specialties to check out: http://www.discovernursing.com/nursing-careers Do be sure wherever you go, you have a several month orientation on your unit. Plan on staying at your first job at least 1-2 years until you are comfortable carrying your workload. The cool thing is, once you've got a few years under your belt, you can go literally anywhere with nursing! Work days, nights, evenings, weekends, on staff, agency, per diem.
