Austin is my favorite US city. As a matter of fact, I am moving there as soon as my house sells in PA. You can find out a lot of facts re: Austin at city-data dot com Check it out.
Well if you saw my previous thread youd know I was considering a move to Tn, Ive spoken with a respected coworker and tells me Austin Tx is a great place to live.
Anyone have first hand experience regarding either one of these cities.
Thanks

I have lived in both these places and both are nice -- it kind of depends on who you are.
Austin is wonderful. One of my favorite places. Lots of culture, very liberal, veggeie and vegan food juice bars, lots of health food stores and good places to eat. The bad thing is it is SOOOOO HOT. That is why I moved from Texas to Georgia. It is well over 90 degrees from April to October or so. But when the fall and winter do come they are beautiful, just short.
What I remember from Nashville (I was young) was equally beauitful hills but more beautiful trees like magnolias and oaks. Mostly Pine survive the texas heat. You have four distinct seasons there and the winter was cold with lots of snow but that too was beauitful. I would just try to make sure your gas bill was paid for if you are there in the winter. The people there were soooo nice, some of the nicest I have met. They are more old skool, not so liberal but nice.
But you are in the SOUTH in Tenn. You are in the WEST in texas. The south means very southern accents, sweet tea and grits. I did not spend too much time downtown but it was like a mini metropolian city.
If you are looking for a liberal young artsy (for the young and old) Austin is your best bet.
hope this helps!
Makes me miss Austin!
