Smile hey!!!

hey my name is Eva and I am a senior in high school. I am interested in pursuing a career in nursing. The thing is I'm not sure what the type of nurse I want to be. I love babies and would love to work in the maternity ward taking care of the newborn babies. Would that be considered a maternity nurse or pediatric nurse?

Re: hey!!!

Hi and welcome! Taking care of the newborns is maternity nursing. I work in pediatrics and I take care of kids who range from just having gone home from being born to 18 years old. I started out wanting to do newborn nursery too, but there were no jobs when I graduated. Then when one opened up and the hospital asked me if I wanted to transfer departments I declined because I love what I do. Don't worry -- when you're in nursing school you make rounds through all the different types of nursing and you will get a lot of different experiences. Just keep an open mind. You may think you won't like an area of nursing only to find that you fall in love with it. Good luck in your future schooling!

Hi, augustbaby! Welcome to the site! Like Mom said, you'll have clinicals in pretty much a wide variety of settings. From what I gathered in my class, Maternity was hard to get into.

Hope to see alot of your posts!

Supposedly 8 out of 10 people suffer from hemorrhoids. Does that mean that the other 2 people enjoy them???
