Hello from the new kid on the block! Hey guys! This is my first post to this forum and the first forum I have ever been on so this is sort of an introduction. I am 36 and have only been a nurse for 1 1/2 years but have already learned so much and know there is so much more to learn. I work on a telemetry floor and float sometimes to ICU. I'm currently in an RN-BSN program and am considering studying for my certification in Cardiovascular nursing after I finish school, if I live through it! Any advice or knowledgable experience anyone could share would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome! I had my certification in Med-Surg (let it lapse! ugh!) I am planning on taking it as soon as I am eligible for it again as well as the CCRN. I found that most of my work experienced is what helped w/my med surg certification. Good luck!

Re: Hello from the new kid on the block! Hi CST & IamRN! I'm newer to the forums than you both but happy to meet you. CST hang in there & you'll be fine. Remember- worthwhile things are generally not easy, but you seem like a very determined person with a good head on your shoulders. You can do it! Please keep us posted on how the RN to BSn program is going. Are you doing it online? Which program if so?

Re: ****o from the new kid on the block! Welcome aboard mate. I have been a RN since 94. I got my first taste of the medical profession right out of high school when I enlisted in the USN. I was a hospital corpsman and I specialised in otorhinolaryngology (Ears, Nose, and Throat) surgery. Currently I am in Georgia but I will be moving back to Perth Western Australia by the end of this year. If you ever get the chance to work in Australia you should go for it. I loved it. Cheers mate ![]()
