Okay, I know this is going to be a mouthful, but I need to vent. I am nineteen years old and I am going to school to become an RN. I have one and a half years of pre-req's left, because my schools registration date for me screwed up my educational plan. So I had to change the way things were done. I am taking seventeen units this semester [for a total of five classes]. And I still feel like that's not enough for my parents. They are convinced I will not finish school, because they think I'm not "motivated" enough, because I spent my summer having fun...Next semester I am going to take the class to become a CNA, and that STILL doesn't seem good enough. How can I get my parents to appreciate that I am really trying, but also still want to have a life? Because I am at a wits end, and I can't afford to move out of this negativity. Please help. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take...

Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear that you are having such trouble with your parents. That will be a heavy courseload in the fall and you don't need their negativity to make things harder. Just do the best you can to avoid their negative remarks. When they start in on you, excuse yourself to go to your room and study. After all, you will need to spend all of your time studying anyway and won't have time to listen to their complaining. Good luck.
