| A fresh set of eyes, and somewhat fresh brain! My name is Dean and I have about 10 years of massage therapy experience, and about 15 in hospitality management. I am presently in my 1st year of psychiatric nursing education. I am really keen on getting to know the people here, and learning from everybody. The course I am in is 6 semesters straight, like 3 years in 2. It is done online as a community, meaning there are people all over the province involved in the course, at least 8 in the community you live, and we do practicums in every semester. It seems to be working out really well. It's the first time any regulating body has offered this degree of education in this field in this way. Kind of like being a guinea pig, but so far we're all okay. If anyone has any questions feel free, I'm really open to any tyoe of discussion on or off topic. I really the therapeutic end working with clients or patients which ever you prefer. Thanks again, see ya soon! D |

What type of degree of education is this exactly? Will you be taking the NCLEX upon completion for your nursing license, or will you be certified specifically for psych work? Please, tell us more.

| Re: A fresh set of eyes, and somewhat fresh brain! I know it seems confusing, because we do 6 semesters without any breaks, I am going in to my 2nd year, or the 3rd semester of my course. It is 22 1/2 months long. Certification is done by the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of BC, RPNABC, and they do use the NCLEX examinations. It will allow me a diploma, I wil be able to do one more year to finish my degree, or 1 1/2 to do my RN degree. The course outline is found at www.stenbergcollege.com. Its been exciting, nice to meet you. D |
