| first post Just wanted to say Hi all. I work in LTC as a restorative nurse coordinator.Any and all tips on how to prevent falls is greatly appreciated. |

| Re: first post Hi MagRedC5, A restorative nurse coordinator is the liason between the therapies and nursing. I write all of our restorative programs which consist of ambulation,transfers,range of motion,ect. I like the job. |

| Re: first post Hi Cat, I could use some brainstorming. We have tried all of the usual interventions on our frequent fallers,low beds,mats,removing side rails,bed bolsters.safety perimeter matresses. I need some new ideas. |

| Re: first post Hey, nice to meet you. I'm a peds nurse, but sometimes I work with adults in our hospital. We do a falls assessment on every patient that comes into the hospital. If they score a certain number on the assessment tool we have alarms on the beds that we turn on. Then if the patient starts to get out of bed and the weight of their butt isn't on the mattress an alarm goes off and the nurses go running in there. Can you do this in LTC or is it considered restrictive like a restraint? I don't know, but it works in the hospital.
