Smile Back to School

Hello everyone,
I just went back to school last semester for a post master's certification in nursing education. You all know that not only is there a shortage in nurses at the bedside but also faculty members to teach in the schools.I have always enjoyed teaching and love our profession so I decided to do my part. This is an exciting time as well as a scary time for me. Are there any educators out there that can give me a few welcomed tips?

Re: Back to School

Hi, Chrissy! Nice to meet you :wavey:

The teacher shortage is something, isn't it? My school is working on getting students back for teaching; the main problem seems to be the pay.

Re: Back to School

I'm a clinical instructor and do a few "guest" lectures. I have my BSN. They offered me a full time lecture position if I would work on my masters at the same but I really can't afford to give up my bedside job to teach as it would be a big pay cut and I just can't do it.

chrissypooh;

Thank you for taking the career step towards teaching. I truly believe the lack of nursing programs/lack of faculty is a major factor in the nursing shortage.
