I am new to this so I am going to get right down to my questions. After being on and off a waiting list in Georgia for about 10 years, it was suggested that I go to another state. So I did! Anyhow, I am now at Herzing College in their LPN program. I know to many that may be a step backward from a RN. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do when it is your dream on the line.

Ok!! first off I have an associate of science degree. I know that when I finish at Herzing, I can get an endorsement to come back to Georgia to work. But what I want to ask is if I go back to school for my RN will I be able to bypass the associate RN and go right to the bachelor RN? Do I need to still go get my associate as an RN then go to my bachelor? Please help, I want to know?

Hi ennaajidavinity and welcome to the discussion forum........I was a LPN for one year and then got my RN......You don't have to do the ADN first.....you can go into a LPN to RN program for your bachelors......there are many around the country......In Georgia where I lived.....Augusta.....its mostly BSN programs.........:luck:

I also live in GA and the BSN program I am in has a few LPNs that were able to bypass some of the classes the first year and then they just took the full course load for their senior year. To my knowledge quite a few BSN programs will do this for LPNs'. There are a few in the Atlanta area and a few where I live, the Savannah area. Good luck.:luck:

medical college of georgia (MCG), Georgia Southern University, Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU),Mercer Unviersity, Georgia State University, Georgia College and State University, Kennesaw College (not the exact name but something similar). These are just the main ones that come to my mind, there might be a few others' that I can't think of right now or don't know about. I hope this list helps some. I would just call and talk to someone in the nursing admission's office. :luck:

CVCC, chattahoochee valley community college......in phenix city alabama, right across the river from ga.
go from LPN to RN in one year with their bridge program
after graduation they help u test in alabama and get ur license then u just endorse over to ga

Thank you guys for so much information. I got another question. I have no experience in the medical industry except for personal because of my two boys being premature, mother cardiovascular disease, and sister HIV +. Anyhow, I want to do internship and get some experience under my belt. I was told to volunteer somewhere in Georgia because they don't intern LPN and work for some hospital in Alabama. WHat should I DO? I need to earn some money to support my kids while I am in school. Can you guys help?

I got hired as a PCT (patient care tech) after my first semester of nursing school, but it was a RN program, so I don't know if you could do the same thing for a LPN program. All I do as a tech is VS, help with ADL's, EKG's, draw blood, and just assist the nurse any way I can (you should gain these skills the first semester in LPN school too) The EKG's and phlebotomy isn't required on all floors, and if you don't know how to do it you will get trained on the job. If for some reason they won't hire you as a tech than try to get a job as a unit clerk or possibly registration for an ER. These are the main jobs I can think of in a hospital where you will gain the most experience without being licensed as a nurse. I hope this helps!:luck:
