what am I doing wrong?

I have been searching for my second travel assignment (M/S) Started out looking in South Carolina but that didnt work out. Was told the area I wanted to go to was limited but saw several postings so after being submitted and not hearing anything for over a week I went to plan B. I then starting looking closer to home in Iowa Nebraska and Minnesota.(Even applied for a MN license after being reassured and led on I was going to a job) I contacted numerous companys, hearing "oh yes we have positions there" they would tell me about the details and if it sounded like a good fit with good pay, I then filled out the on line applications and checklists and a the next day or two I get a call saying the position has already been filled. I am so tired of doing all this paper work my poor printer is going dry and I am sure my references are getting tired of being contacted. My first travel assignment was a piece of cake. What am I doing wrong here? I am so frustrated with this whole process, please give some feedback
Thank you so much

Re: what am I doing wrong?

You should only have to fill out all the paperwork for each travel company you apply to, not for each and every hospital your recruiter submits you to. I'd sign up with a few companies, then see who has the best assignments available at the time. They should then be able to submit you to hospitals without much more paperwork. Also, if time allows, I would wait until you sign a contract to apply for a license- otherwise you may waste money on application fees for a license you'll never use- some states are really expensive- FL is $212.00!!! If your company is not able to find you assignments, then it's time to switch companies.

Re: what am I doing wrong?

Where is home? I'm from IA just finishing up a contract in CA and am also having a hard time finding something. Omaha has lots of traveler need but have stipulations on how close your home address is to their facilities. I was submitted to 4 hospitals that looked promising they found out I live 55 miles away- they don't like to pay housing $$ (which I use for gas $$) but I'm still looking. What is your specialty?
