| I am thinking of taking a travel assignment in Tucson, AZ. Has anyone worked at either UMC or UPH-Kino(?). How was your experience? Any recommendations? |

| Re: Traveling to Tucson Tucson is a sore subject for me, especially UMC. I worked there and was essentially fired by the unit manager Fausta. I still do not have clear indication what the issue was. She first stated that I did not have a doctors order for giving an amp of D50 to a critical care pt with a blood sugar in the 60's before rushing him to a stat CT. When I went back and asked the doctor to write an order, he gladly did so and placed it in the chart. Then she claimed it was a personality issue and she did not believe I was "happy" there. If I was so miserable, I would not have been working 60 hr work weeks for them. My travel company actually got the director of nursing, the legal department, and one of the vice presidents involved to try to work things out with UMC. Nothing worked. My company backed me, but the hospital would not listen. You might be in a different area or under a different manager; all I have to offer is my personal experience with this hospital. I found their behavior very unprofessional and so did my company. Again, all I have to offer is my experience. You will have to interview with them and make your own judgement. If you do decide to work with them, please go to extra lengths to make sure you are protected from cancellation. This contract cancellation ended up costing me quite a bit of money. |

| Junior Member | Re: Traveling to Tucson Thank you so much for the tips. i do appreciate your experience and i will keep that in the back of my mind. i have an interview with them this morning. do you think they fished for a reason to fire you? do you think they had too many travelers and wanted to "cull the herd"? what protections against cancellation do travelers have? |
