Re: Traveling alone, need advice!

Hi!
I will be starting my first assignment in San Francisco in a few weeks. Anyone in the area? Also, does anyone have experience traveling to Kaiser SF in labor and delivery? What's up with the Fillmore Center? I hear that is where agencies like to put a lot of travelers and I have heard lots of mixed reviews...mostly bad though. What do u think?

I'm excited to meet new people and live in SF!

Re: Traveling alone, need advice!

An excellent resource to check out a city is:

Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, house prices, home value estimator, recent sales, cost of living, crime, race, income, photos, education, maps, weather, houses, and more

It has all the demographics you could ask for including crime stats, temperature/climate, median home prices, income, etc, and then you can go to the forum of specific cities and read the posts. It is geared toward moving there and informational. I love this site. I just used it to check the average tempature of Asheville, NC so I could figure out what to pack for a short trip.

Re: Traveling alone, need advice!

I've been traveling alone for about a year and a half now with RN Network. I've been lucky enough that I've met some really wonderful people on my assignments. Usually the staff are friendly and I can find a couple peole to hang out with. Its definately a plus if there are other travelers. One piece of advice I would say is that if you are going out exploring/sightseeing in the area, make sure that someone knows where you are at, even if they aren't where you are. If I go out for a hike by myself, I go during the day and I call home to my mom and let her know where I'm at and what trail I'm taking and about how long I'll be out. Then I call her when I'm done. That way if something does happen, somebody knows where you are. So good luck to you and don't let being alone stop you from seeing the sights!!! You'll settle into a groove.
