Travel nursing on Indian Reservations???

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with travel nursing on Indian Reservations such as the Navajo Nation??? I'm new to travel nursing, and want a change of pace (in addition to a change of scenery). I've come across to agencies (Access Nurses and Nationwide Nurses) that offer assignments on Indian Reservations, but I'm really not feeling comfortable with either one of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Travel nursing on Indian Reservations???

I have been with Access Nurses for over two months now on the navajo reservation in Kayenta, AZ. Access Nurses will screw you over every chance they get. I was promised a completion bonus (verbally), however it did not get put in the contract. I should have read it more closely, but a promise is a promise. Also, I still haven't been given insurance, as promised (in writing).
The Navajo reservation is an adventure in itself. The people are nice enough, but pretty stand offish. The scenery here is second to none. However, it is 2 hours to the nearest town of any size (read Wal-Mart), and there are almost no amenities here.
I've heard from other nurses that nationwide is a good company, but have no personal experience with them.
Research thoroughly before making any decisions.
