I've been traveling 2 years now and spent last winter down in southern TX contracted directly with the hospital as a winter worker. I like to find more facilities in that area that do the same? The biggest draw back was as a winter worker I was the first to be called off, this year I'd like 36 hour a week guarantee. I was at Haringen Medical Center at $53.00 last year.

Re: Texas Winter Workers Did the hospital house you? If you contract thru a travel company that will guarentee your hours, then you will have steady pay and not get called off per se. But of course you will make less per hour. I think you already know that.

No, Kdog the hospital didn't house me. But the big benefit is that as a seasonal worker nearly everything I spent while down there was tax deductable. I travel with a Fifth Wheel and 120lb Rottweiler. I have been having a hard time finding a travel assignment in S. TX that meets my needs. My blended take home rate has been $40-42 an hour for most of the last year. (Blended rate = (Hourly pay – 20% taxes) + housing stipend/ hours per week). I generally work for rapid response companies (Faststaff and TNS are great). Any recruiters out there who have positions that may meet my needs send me a PM I'm available 11/1 and my specialties are tele and cardiac step-down ![]()
